How simple can you make your user interface?

How about not having one at all? Or rather skipping away with the need to interact through traditional forms of user interfaces like a web interface.

Posterous is a new startup that allows you to blog simply by sending in an email to post@posterous.com

This makes it very simple for most people. For many users, it’s difficult to adapt to new user interfaces. Email is the most familiar interface to most people out there. After all email is also where there is a lot of readily bloggable content such as the funny emails that everyone sends around.

Do check out Posterous. We do feel the interfaces like these, that don’t really have any interface, could be the new zen for 2009.

WordPress hits an ultra-sexy 2.7

Code-named ‘Coltrane’ (after the Jazz legend), WordPress 2.7 comes our way with a host of smooth new features. There’s a whole new administration interface, Sticky Posts, drag ‘n’ drop UI arrangements, an in-built plugin browser, batch editing of posts, comment threading, inbuilt upgrade and install of WordPress itself… and I’m just getting started.

And if you’re upgrading to 2.7, take a photo while you’re at it! It will probably be your last manual upgrade of WordPress for now.

Tasks App for Gmail!

The Gmail team has launched another new application for Gmail called “Tasks”, which is a simple task manager, within Gmail itself.

How do you use it? Pretty easy, simply type in your list of things to do into the “Tasks”. What’s unique about this app is that users can turn their email into a task by simple clicking “Add to Tasks”. Sound good? For advanced users, shortcut keys are available too. Cloud Relationship Management?

A partnership between two big companies in the IT industry happens again!!! Google Application Engine (see “Rolling out Google Apps for Your Company’s IT Infrastructure“) has partnered with SalesForce, to come up with a new kind of system, dubbed a Cloud Relationship Management system. With this integration, Google Engine apps are allowed to read and write to Force.com vice versa.

With this strategic partnership, customers would only have to register on one site to use the features of the partner’s site. Welcome to Cloud Relationship Management.

As the dominators of the search engine market, this aggressive move by Google has created more awareness that they are ready to challenge Microsoft for a greater customer base through online applications. With this move from Google, there will be more news in the days ahead along the lines of Cloud Relationship Management for sure! The new CRM is here.
