Google Labs addresses Misdirected Emails, “Got the Wrong Bob?”

If you have got a common name and find yourself often being left out of important work mails, this for you. (Then again, in a global population of 6.79 billion, all first names are a dime a dozen.) You’re new to the company, you introduce yourself, but you really can’t fault them if they don’t remember your full name.

This is when you update your colleagues on the new Google Labs feature, “Got the wrong Bob” or “Don’t forget Bob”.

Got the wrong Bob?” is for times when group mails are sent but includes a recipient with the wrong last name. Ensure your colleagues see you when they are typing the mail.

“Don’t forget Bob” ensures they pay attention to the list of recipients as they are filling in email addresses. If they have have sent to a similar group before, Gmail would suggest additional people who should be included.

You can turn it on by going to your Gmail Settings and enabling these functions under the Labs tab. While you are at it, try explore the other features, like “Tasks“, ”Superstars“ or “Undo Send“.

Still, do try to keep alert, whether it is on sleepy rainy mornings, or post-lunch periods. If not, just count on Gmail to be your trusty sidekick.
